There are basically four ways of paying for long-term care services:
- Pay for it yourself
- Medicaid – A joint federal-state program for the indigent. Generally pays only in a traditional nursing home. Becoming increasingly difficult to qualify for by way of artificial impoverishment. Generally not desirable due to restrictions on choice and control.
- Medicare / Medicare Supplements – Very limited for LTC, pays 100 days at best
- Long-Term Care Insurance
